New "Traditional Photovoltaic Tile": Roman Invisible Modules Stunning Italy
Jan 06, 2023An archaeological park in Pompeii and the city of Evora in Portugal have introduced a new type of solar module that looks like Roman tiles against the city skyline.
Through this innovation, the constraints of architecture have been transformed into an asset that also drives cultural development and sustainability.
These solar panels installed on top of the House of Cerere are similar to the terracotta tiles used by the Romans. The solution promises cost savings while maintaining aesthetics, and the tiles, known as "traditional photovoltaic tiles", are invisible to the naked eye.
Traditional photovoltaic tiles are built from polymer compounds. The material filters sunlight, and the solar cells solar system are manually added and then covered with a layer of polymer compound.
Photovoltaic panel tiles can present an appearance similar to building materials such as stone, wood, concrete, etc., and blend in with the landscape. Therefore, they can be installed on roofs or even floors or walls.
There is no doubt that these photovoltaic tiles are an innovative solution with multiple benefits. At the same time as eye-catching, they are easy to handle and do not spoil the landscape, so the tiles, approved by the Italian Ministry of Culture, have been installed in the popular tourist destination of Vicoforte.
These photovoltaic tiles will also be used on the roof of the famous Maxxi Roman Art Museum and some public buildings, and the Italian company Tegola Canadese is one of the technical partners.
